Having your car break down is at best inconvenient, but at worst can be very dangerous.

Other Important Checks
Check your tyres on a regular basis for wear and for inconsistant wear. If a tyre is showing inconsistant wear, there could be a problem with your vehicles tracking. Also, check your tyre pressures to ensure they are at the correct levels especially before any long journeys. | |
Check your windscreen washer fluid to ensure you have sufficient levels. If replacing using concentrated fluids, ensure you follow the instructions for the correct mixture of fluid and water dependant on the current weather conditions. | |
On occaision it might be necessary to change your air filter. To check your filter consult your owners manual for instructions of how to remove the element. Once removed, shake gently to remove dirt and dust. DO NOT wash or blow with an air hose as this will damage the filter. If the filter is matted with dirt and dust, it must be replaced. | |
When you have your bonnet lid open, check the condition of your battery. Check for loose connections and corrosion around the terminals. If there is corrosion it may be necessary to replace the battery. |
